Saur, 2003), St. Clair identifies the coming new information profession as Knowledge Services, which he defines as the convergence of information management, knowledge management, and strategic (performance-centered) learning. In “Knowledge Services and SLA’s History: An Interview with Guy St. Clair,” published in Information Outlook in September, 2003, St. Clair describes how the historical role of the Special Libraries Association (www.sla.org) has led the larger information management community to focus on Knowledge Services.

A native of Virginia and a long-time resident of New York, St. Clair has for many years maintained a strong affection for his adopted city, and he takes particular interest in New York’s culture, intellectual vigor, and its history. In the late 1990s, St. Clair was commissioned to write A Venerable and Cherished Institution: The University Club of New York, 1865-1990 (New York, NY: The University Club, 1991), published to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the founding of one of the city’s most important cultural organizations. He continues to pursue his interest in New York through his affiliations with several of the city’s various cultural institutions.
